About Orchard Arts

Orchard Arts Gallery of Fine Art features the artwork of Hayward California artist Stephen Charles and other selected artists. Edition prints are primarily ultrachrome k3 vivid magenta ink prints, unless otherwise indicated. Prints are signed, numbered and stamped on the back. All artwork comes with an Orchard Arts certificate of authenticity. Epson ultrachrome K3 with vivid magenta ink combined with Epson fine art paper is the finest art production media available today. The color and black and white images produced by the ultrachrome k3 vivid magenta ink exceed all pervious printing technology. The portfolios, My America and Murals are derived from high resolution scans of ultra-sharp large format 4x5 sheet film or transparencies.

The images are scanned at the maximum practical limit of modern digital technology. Scans of Kodak tmax100 4x5 sheet film result in a file size of 1.3 gigabyte. Ectachrome 4x5 sheet film scans are close to 2 gigabyte file size. 35mm color film scans are generally 320 megabyte and 35mm 16 bit grayscale scans are approximately 90 megabyte file size. Why such large image captures? Simple; the resulting artwork has incredible color fidelity, tonal graduation and ultra-sharpness. Also the 16 bit grayscale prints exceed the gray tones of traditional silver gelatin prints.
